Designer Therapeutic CompressionInnovative and Uniquely Effective Compression Garments
Solidea of Italy are the makers of revolutionary therapeutic compression garments with the finest craftsmanship, materials, and innovative designs since 1976. As the leading designer of luxurious therapeutic compression, Solidea's extensive research and development of new fabric technology has resulted in garments with unparalleled effectiveness, comfort, and style. Solidea's patented circular knit fabrics are proven to maintain therapeutic compression levels and are made with the finest quality materials and craftsmanship.
Solidea's Next Generation Compression
- Patented Advanced Micro Massage Fabric:
Exceptionally comfortable, their textured fabrics combined with lighter graduated compression, create a gentle micro massage as the body moves. This combination helps the body utilize subcutaneous lymphatic capillaries to maximize fluid movement. To manage chronic conditions, Micro Massage garments are most effective when alternated with their Therapeutic garments.
- Patented Therapeutic Fabric
Their Therapeutic fabric is as beautiful and elegant as it is effective and comfortable. The graduated compression garments made with this breathable, circular knit, three-way stretch fabric are easier to don and offer a sleek, seamless appearance to smooth the silhouette. Therapeutic garments are an excellent choice for managing chronic conditions.
- Support Fabric
Their support fabrics, offered in sheer and opaque variations are comparable to designer hosiery. The graduated compression garments made from this breathable, three-way stretch fabric offer therapeutic benefits without sacrificing comfort and style. Support garments are most beneficial for mild conditions, as a preventative or to energize legs.
- Bacteriostatic Silver Ions
Solidea's most advanced garments feature embedded silver ions to reduce bacteria on the skin. Silver ions also help disperse heat and eliminate odors.
- Antimicrobial Treatment
The antimicrobial treatment is a hygienic textile treatment with high-wash durability that deactivates the bacteria that cause unpleasant odors.
- Latex Free: All Solidea garments are Latex Free
Dr. Allmendinger, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon explains, "Solidea has added a new dimension to therapeutic compression. The inner layer of these garments is produced with a unique process that results in a relief pattern of circumferential ribs. As the body moves these ribs expand and contract to create a gentle wave of pressure to stimulate the capillaries and move fluid.
Unlike standard compression garments which move fluids through the deeper channels, this combination appears to stimulate the superficial system and enable continued function.
Lower level graduated compression, which is easier to put on and take off, in conjunction with the garment's massage action increases effectiveness and comfort. This can result in improved patient compliance and outcome."Frequently Asked Questions
How are Solidea garments engineered for maximum effectiveness and comfort?
Solidea has designed a line of compression wear in smooth and textured circular knit fabrics proven to maintain therapeutic compression levels. Each garment is made in Italy with the finest quality materials and craftsmanship and with meticulous attention to detail. The advanced Micro Massage fabric stimulates subcutaneous capillaries with a gentle massage -- an advanced and more comfortable approach to fluid movement. The smooth fabrics are soft and luxurious and set the standard in comfortable and stylish compression wear. Designed for effectiveness and ease of donning, the garment fabrics are either embedded with silver ions or an antimicrobial treatment to reduce bacteria and the chance of infection.
- Can I combine garments for a custom fit, easier donning or more complete coverage?
Patients have combined or overlapped garments to create the desired compression coverage or level. Two lower compression garments may be easier for a wearer to apply and wear comfortably.
- How do I care for a garment and how long will it last?
Solidea compression garments should be replaced in approximately three to six months depending on wear and washing. For best results, hand wash with gentle fragrance-free detergent and lay flat to dry. You may machine wash in a lingerie bag on delicate in warm or cold water. If you choose to use a dryer, use a low temperature setting. Do not use bleach, chlorine, fabric softener or other laundry additives.
- How can I find the correct size?
There are detailed size charts.
- What if the size is not fitting me well?
Please exchange any garment for another size or simply return the item unused for a refund. Due to different body shapes you may need to try a different size or style to fit your individual needs. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error before getting your garment right.
- Is there Latex in Solidea garments?
No, all Solidea garments are latex free.
- Will lotion or creams damage the garments?
Since Solidea products are all latex free, lotions and creams are perfectly safe to put on prior to wearing the garments.
- What are donning gloves and how do they work?
They are rubber gloves that have a special raised pattern on the palm to grab the fabric of your compression garment without compromising the material. This allows you to easily position the garment to insure the compression is evenly distributed and is comfortably in place. Donning gloves are a necessity if you wear your garment regularly.
- Can I wear the bilateral arm sleeve if I don't have swelling in that arm?
The bilateral compression arm sleeve and all legwear are perfectly safe to wear on unaffected limbs. When determining size, always base your decision on the circumference of the affected limb.
Compression garments improve circulation and reduce swelling as well as discomfort associated with:
About Leg Health:
- Spider veins (telangiectasia)
- Varicose veins
- Venous eczema
- Venous ulcers
- DVT (deep vein thrombosis, or blood clot) prevention
- PTS (post-thrombotic syndrome)
- Swelling (edema)
- Burn scars
- Aching, tired legs
- Post sclerotherapy
- Venous insufficiency
- Joint injury or inflammation
- Surgery and scarring
Many factors contribute to the overall health of our legs: heredity, weight, age, diet and activity level. But it's the internal function of the legs that also plays an important role: calf muscles, arteries, veins, and vein valves--the internal highway of blood and oxygen flow.
The flow of blood in the veins is assisted by a series of one-way valves. The valves remain open when the blood flows toward the heart, and then closed after blood passes through. Over time, an increase in pressure can stretch the vein walls. If a vein becomes enlarged and over-stretched the valves cannot close properly, causing blood to leak back down into the lower legs, resulting in poor circulation.
If this happens you may begin to develop symptoms, such as:
- Heavy, tired, aching legs
- Swollen legs and/or ankles
- Sensation of warmth in the legs
- Tingling or cramping of the legs
- Dull or sharp pain in the calf
- Small varicose veins and spider veins
Using Compression Therapy:
Graduated compression stockings and socks are important to leg health. They help minimize muscle aches, swelling, and symptoms of fatigue. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle will strengthen your legs, but wearing graduated compression stockings or socks will support the internal function of the veins.

Our Certified Fitters recommend that donning gloves always be worn when applying your compression garments. These gloves have a gripping texture that makes it considerably easier to put on compression hose. Donning gloves also help to prevent tearing, snagging or putting a nail or finger through the garment. This is especially true with the sheer compression hosiery.
MetroMedicalOnline offers a large selection of Donning Gloves and other donning aids in our Compression Accessories section, including the Juzo Slippie Gator, Sigvaris Extensors, and Mediven Butler, all designed to assist the pulling on and removal of compression stockings.

Jobst Jolastic Wash is formulated to remove oil, body acids, and skin salts quickly and easily without damage to the fabric. This specially designed solution will help extend the life of all elastic garments. The ingredients in Jobst ensure excellent soil removal and are mild to the user's hands.
