The Nearly Me® brand of mastectomy products was founded in 1976 by Ruth Handler who was also the creator of Mattel's Barbie® Doll. Following a modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer, she had difficulty finding a comfortable, realistic, beautiful, and easy-to-purchase breast prosthesis.
