Mepilex Border Sacrum dressing is designed specifically for sacral wounds, which are typically hard to get a good fit to adhere. Mepilex Border Sacrum does not adhere to moist wound bed but adheres gently to dry tissue utilizing the unique Safetac technology.
Recommended areas of use: Sacral wounds caused from pressure, friction or shear.
Manufacturer's suggested wear time: Up to 7 days.
Always consult your physician before starting any wound care regimen.
How Mepilex Works
Mepilex minimizes both trauma to the wound and pain to the patient during dressing changes. The Safetac layer prevents Mepilex from sticking to the moist wound bed yet it adheres gently to the surrounding skin. The gentle adhesion frees both hands for easy application of secondary fixation. Mepilex absorbs effectively and ensures a low risk of maceration.

Safetac Technology
Safetac technology is less painful because it:
1) tacks gently to dry surfaces, like skin, but not to moist surfaces, such as open wounds2) molds to the skin’s pores, covering more skin surface and spreading peel forces on removal to prevent skin stripping
3) seals the wound margins, ensuring exudate does not spread to the surrounding skin and minimizing maceration
Safetac technology’s soft silicone molds to the skin’s uneven surface pores, while other adherents simply stick to the tops on the skin’s surface.
This molding action is the secret to why Safetac technology is so effective at minimizing pain and preventing maceration.
