Features of Dr. Scholl's Graduated Compression Socks
- Graduated Compression:
Dr. Scholl's graduated compression socks are properly constructed by maximizing pressure at the ankle with a gradual release as it goes up the leg. This scientifically designed sock technology encourages blood flow to move up the leg to help reduce swelling and blood clots while energizing feet and legs.
- Exceptional Fit:
A perfect fitting sock is critical when it comes to graduated compression socks. It is most important to measure your ankle and calf circumference to select the sock that fits you perfectly. With our wide assortment of styles and sizes, you will find that comfort is just a click away.
- Smooth Toe Seam:
To receive the utmost comfort from a sock, it must have a smooth toe seam. Dr. Schollís Therapeutic compression socks are knit with a smooth toe seam to eliminate the nagging irritation caused by standard, bulky seams.
Notes from our Certified Fitters:
Always contact your physician and or therapist to determine the correct compression strength for your condition. Compression garments should be replaced after six months of normal wear. They start losing their effectiveness after that time. If they seem to be getting looser, than you are not receiving the maximum benefits of their compression strength.
Since the inception of the Dr. Scholl's® brand in 1906, one goal remains in the forefront of all product innovation. . . comfort.
Providing comfort to men and women through Dr. Scholl's® products is their focus. Dr. Scholl's socks provide the utmost satisfaction for your feet. Dr. Scholl's is America's number one brand of foot care products, providing comfort to millions for more than a century. Dr. Scholl's will continue to lead the way in foot comfort and technology and is proud to be the most trusted name in foot care.

For all compression garments:
- Do not Bleach.
- Blot to remove excess water.
- Air dry away from heat.
- Use of a laundry bag helps to protect the garment during washing.
See package insert for further information and instructions.
Sigvaris, Jobst, Juzo, and Mediven make special Washing Solutions specially designed to help maintain the quality of compression garments and extend their life.Measuring for Compression Stockings:
It is recommended that you mark the leg with a non-permanent, non-toxic marker at each circumference measurement made.
Measurements should always be taken as soon as possible after waking when swelling is minimum
Measure next to bare skin
The measuring system is based on having the foot flat against the floor
Measurements must be taken by pulling the tape snugly around the leg but without constriction
Measurements should be taken from the ground up
About Leg Health:
Many factors contribute to the overall health of our legs: heredity, weight, age, diet and activity level. But it's the internal function of the legs that also plays an important role: calf muscles, arteries, veins, and vein valves--the internal highway of blood and oxygen flow.
The flow of blood in the veins is assisted by a series of one-way valves. The valves remain open when the blood flows toward the heart, and then closed after blood passes through. Over time, an increase in pressure can stretch the vein walls. If a vein becomes enlarged and over-stretched the valves cannot close properly, causing blood to leak back down into the lower legs, resulting in poor circulation.
If this happens you may begin to develop symptoms, such as:
- Heavy, tired, aching legs
- Swollen legs and/or ankles
- Sensation of warmth in the legs
- Tingling or cramping of the legs
- Dull or sharp pain in the calf
- Small varicose veins and spider veins
Using Compression Therapy:
Graduated compression stockings and socks are important to leg health. They help minimize muscle aches, swelling, and symptoms of fatigue. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle will strengthen your legs, but wearing graduated compression stockings or socks will support the internal function of the veins.

Our Certified Fitters recommend that donning gloves always be worn when applying your compression garments. These gloves have a gripping texture that makes it considerably easier to put on compression hose. Donning gloves also help to prevent tearing, snagging or putting a nail or finger through the garment. This is especially true with the sheer compression hosiery.
MetroMedicalOnline offers a large selection of Donning Gloves and other donning aids in our Compression Accessories section, including the Juzo Slippie Gator, Sigvaris Extensors, and Mediven Butler, all designed to assist the pulling on and removal of compression stockings.
We also recommend either Sigvaris, Juzo, or Jobst Jolastic Special Washing Solutions for maintaining the quality of compression garments. Jobst Jolastic Wash is formulated to remove oil, body acids, and skin salts quickly and easily without damage to the fabric. This specially designed solution will help extend the life of all elastic garments. The ingredients in Jobst ensure excellent soil removal and are mild to the user's hands.
Many of our customers love Alps Fitting lotion. ALPS 100% Silicone Fitting Lotion Skin Conditioner for Sensitive Skin leaves a smooth, silky feel to sensitive skin that is chapped and dry. When used before putting on stockings, ALPS fitting lotion helps prevent snags and facilitates donning of compression garments.
You will find other useful products in our Compression Accessories department, including compression bandages, adhesives, pads, donning devices, and detergents.
