Lyofoam Extra Polyurethane Foam Dressings (4"x4") (by the Each)

Lyofoam Extra is a polyurethane foam dressing used in the treatment of heavily exuding wounds, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, post-operative and traumatic wound sites, burns and skin grafts. Lyofoam Extra has a hydrophilic, smooth wound contact surface and absorbs excess exudates to help minimize maceration. The other side of the dressing exhibits hydrophobic properties, helping prevent strike-through of blood and exudates. Molnlycke Lyofoam Extra #603088 measures 4" x 4" (10 x 10cm) and is easy to remove and apply. Sold here by the individual dressing. Also available by the box of 10.

How Lyofoam Extra Works

Lyofoam Extra is a layer of polyurethane foam, heat treated on one side to provide a smooth hydrophilic, absorbent wound contact layer.

Areas of Use

Lyofoam Extra is for use in the treatment of moderate to heavy exudating wounds.

Benefits of Lyofoam Extra

  • Hydrophilic wound contact area absorbs exudate and allows fluid to evaporate, avoid maceration
  • Does not allow newly-formed epithelium to penetrate, avoiding wound trauma during dressing changes
  • Maintains the optimum wound environment for rapid healing
  • Quick and easy to apply and remove
  • Hydrophobic outer layer helps to prevent "strike through" and reduces risk of secondary infection
  • Absorbs moderate to high levels of exudate
  • Can be used under compression.

Note: Natural rubber latex is not a constituent of Lyofoam Extra or its packaging.
