Mepitac is a highly conformable fabric-backed tape that is easy to apply and remove. The Safetac layer assures secure fixation and gentle removal from skin and body hair. If inspection or repositioning is necessary, Mepitac can be lifted and re-applied.

Mepitac is an ideal fixation solution for patients with fragile and sensitive skin. Mepitac is suitable for patients requiring repeated application and removal of tape over the same area, such as neonates and dialysis patients.

Product description

Mepitac is a soft silicone tape. It consists of:

• a soft silicone contact layer (Safetac®)
• a knitted fabric and
• a breathable polyurethane film.

Safetac® Technology

Safetac is a patented soft silicone adhesive technology. Dressings with Safetac technology are atraumatic upon removal. These dressings minimize trauma to the wound and the surrounding skin, which minimizes pain to the patient.

Mode of action

Mepitac is highly conformable and easy to apply and remove. The Safetac layer assures secure fixation and atraumatic removal from skin and body hair. If inspection or repositioning is necessary, Mepitac can be lifted and re-applied. Mepitac leaves no residues.

Intended use

Mepitac is designed for fixation of medical devices such as drains, tubes, probes, electrodes, IV cannulae, and dressings. In addition, Mepitac offers gentle skin protection when used under devices such as tubes.

Instructions for use

1. Make sure the skin is clean and dry and free from any ointment, lotions, etc.

2. Cut off the desired length of tape using scissors.

3. Remove the protective release film and apply Mepitac without stretching.

4. If inspection or repositioning is necessary, Mepitac can be lifted and re-applied.

Precautions

The adhesion of Mepitac may decrease when used in humid condition such as incubators or on patients who have a fever or perspire a lot.

Mepitac is not suitable for fixation of arterial catheters and arterial cannulae.
